Did you catch the recent release of Sony’s Men In Black: International?
If not, here’s the rundown. The film was directed by F. Gary Gray (Friday, Stright Outta Compton) and stars Tessa Thompson (Creed), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), and Liam Neeson (Taken). And, before you ask, yes, there is a brief but noticeable homage to the Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones original version of Men In Black (1997).
Given the time gap since the previous MIB films, it’s not too surprising that the MIB vehicles have gotten a huge upgrade. Case in point, Lexus is the official vehicle for all of the Men In Black agents in MIB International.
When I saw the film– Lexus invited me to a VIP advance screening in the swanky basement screening room of NYC’s Crosby Hotel— I was taken with how well the phalanx of black Lexus vehicles represented a secretive government organization.
Plus, the real-life 2020 Lexus RC F stars as the MIB’s vehicle of choice. Smart pick since, in real life, the sporty 2-door has lost a whopping 176 pounds from its previous version and now zooms from 0-60 in less than 4 seconds.
If that’s not enough excitement for you, you’ll definitely get a kick out of the movie’s imaginary Lexus QZ 618 Galactic Enforcer jet. Currently available only to MIB agents (wink) it morphs from RC F sport coupe to formidable spaceship with the push of a button.
Not only does it jump from 0-60 in 0.0000000000001 nanoseconds :), but it also comes in a deep, dark, rich and stealthy Umbra Black. Note from Lexus: The very darkest part of a shadow is the umbra. In astrophysics, it is the cone-shaped part of the shadow of a cosmic body that excludes all light from the original source.
So, yeah, basically it’s dark. But it’s a good dark.
In the world of jewelry, it reminds me of frosted (or matte) onyx, which is one of my favorite semiprecious stones to work with. According to HealingCrystals.com, onyx absorbs and transforms negative energy. To me, onyx is also a grounding stone. Put all that together and you definitely have a representation of what it means to be a MIB International agent.
Agents like Agent M (Tessa Thompson) and Agent H (Chris Hemsworth) are charged with making the whole universe a better place. To do that, they have to absorb quite a bit of negative energy. In fact, without giving anything away, negative personal energy plays a big role in the film. Watch closely.
All of which gave me the idea for a bracelet inspired by Men In Black: International! See below.
Heavenly Handle Bracelet:
Sure, the cross is heavenly in a biblical way but authorized MIB agents can also use the stainless steel cross to activate a personal force field capable of stopping just about any firepower you can imagine. The super shiny silver color is no accident since chrome-plated weaponry has become a hallmark of the MIB community. Why “Handle,” you ask? Well, you have to see the movie but, let’s just say that not every car door handle is not created equal. Plus, the bad guys will definitely get handled, if you get my drift. Naturally, the bulk of the bracelet is made of umbra-like, frosted onyx and the whole thing is finished off with a quick-release, stainless steel carabiner clasp, and a solid, silver cowrie shell that, for MIB agents, doubles as a miniature quasar battery– you never know when your Lexus Jet will need a jump start. 🙂
