I made Diane Da Costa’s bracelet in person at her beauty salon in White Plains, NY. She’d just hosted a trunk show for me there and it was a huge success. It’s still the biggest trunk show I’ve ever done and, during the event, I learned a lot about working under pressure and why it’s not a good idea to test out new materials on game day. Also, I learned not to drink while I make bracelets, lol! Anyway, after I made her bracelets, Diane restyled my hair from a silvery box fade to something with a little more swag.
IN HER WORDS: “I am a Celebrity Curly Textured Expert and author. I’m also the Creative Artist & founder of SimpleeBEAUTIFUL CurlyTexturedBAR and the Co-founder of the recently-launched DYAKIM, a lifestyle brand that creates a microfiber collection of quick-dry turbans, caps and towels as well as beauty, bath and hair accessories. For my bespoke bracelet, I wanted a spiritual protection piece. Purple is my favorite color and I wanted a cross to wear. Purple represents royalty, wealth & spirituality. The cross is my protective guard! Right now, I’m creating a complete creative boss lady vibe and I’m focused on winning big. I wanted a percentage of my bracelet purchase price to be donated to the cause of juvenile diabetes. Diabetes is prevalent in my family and my younger brother has struggled with diabetes from the age of 5. He’s currently 45 years old and he’s blessed to still be alive. There are so many complications that develop as a result of diabetes and more efforts must be made to control and cure this disease, especially since it is so prevalent among African- and Caribbean-Americans. .”
